First Day of Spring

We welcomed the first day of spring yesterday with bubbles, flower shaped sandwiches, ice tea and rainbow treats for the kids' lunches.
Hank's class celebrated with kite day!
It was so sweet to watch all the Kindergartners run with joy and exuberance as their kites took flight.
Let's go fly a kite up to the highest height!
In case you want to sing along...
Have I ever said I love this guy? (He turned in his SOAR tickets to get his face painted, hence the clover and leprechaun on his face.  Not sure why he wanted that 3 days after St. Patrick's day.)
After school snack was spring rolls.  The kids had never tired one.  The girls loved them, while Hank said, "No Thank You!"
We went for a spring walk to see the desert a bloom.  The kids pointed out as many flowers as they could find.  This is the most beautiful time of year in the desert.
Spring is really our peak season here.  The summer is horribly hot, there is no fall, and winter is mild but still cool and short days. However, spring is glorious.  The weather is in the high 70's and low 80's.  The warm sun is gentle and we love basking in the outdoors.

It is also planting season!  I bought a tomato plant to plant this weekend too.  If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again!  Or in my case, buy a tomato plant that already had a dozen tomatoes on it and then plant it!  One day I will get the hang of gardening, but for now, we will just enjoy spring and all of its offerings.
